Fall is Upon us
My favorite time of year is here. Fall. In Colorado it meant nice crisp air, with an amazing fresh scent carried on the wind. watching the leaves change color. I could never resist the urge to step on a crunch pile of leaves, or jump into a puddle. It’s a time to start pulling out the jackets. mornings mean cuddling in warm pajamas. Soups can finally become a dinner staple again. the anticipation of when the first snow will come, lingers in your mind when ever you see clouds in the sky. In Arizona you get a bit of a different experience, the tress keep their leaves, but you start to feel a slight chill in the air before the sun comes up. it means you can finally go outside and go for hikes. doors open and the A/C goes off. the fall rain storms freshen everything up and keep the days from getting too hot.
I finally get to start planning my pumpkin design for the year. the one above was one of my favorites that i made, a tarantula. and after carving you get to roast the seeds for a beautiful seasonal snack. pro tip: throw some olive oil and salt and pepper on them before you cook them. It’ll change your life. And if you don’t like carving pumpkins and feeling their strange slimy ooze between your fingers, then you can bake them into pie. pumpkin flavored everything. heck I saw pumpkin flavored sausages last year. No, I wasn’t brave enough to try it.
My love of horror movies becomes acceptable to talk about once again. I’ve watched nearly every genre, and some of the supposedly scariest, and darkest movies out there. i like to try for at least one horror movie a day. can’t forget to binge those movie series like Saw, Friday the Thirteenth, and Scream. the cheesiest ones can be just as fun as the serious ones. along with horror movies comes halloween parties, trick or treating, and costumes. you can be anyone you want. my ultimate dream is to make a Pyramid Head costume but it’s a bit out of my talent range. and if anyone can help me find a legit Mr. McGibblets costume I would be forever grateful. One year I dressed in a dark hoodie and jeans. it doesn’t seem like much until you realize I dressed a stuffed dummy up in the exact same outfit stood on my roof with a friend hiding behind me, and would step back, then my friend would chuck the dummy off the roof. I’ve never heard people scream so loud. Last year I got to dress up as David S. Pumpkins. I would recommend checking it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rS00xWnqwvI&t=36s.
Once halloween is done, you get Thanksgiving, which means cooking all the delicious food. there is something magical about spending an entire day cooking and baking, to watch everyone enjoying the massive meal spread. follow that up with a game of football outside or watching the pros play on TV.
The other thing i love, is how creative I get. Getting to sit with the windows open, and the cool air does something to my imagination. I find that i can write so much more. sitting down to write a page a day is easier. maybe it’s because I’m not dying of heat exhaustion when i come home. Put me in a comfy pair of pajamas, in front of my computer with the windows open and a horror movie on and I could write for hours on end. give me a hot chai tea and I’m in heaven. and what better time than fall for my first book to release as well. What are some of your favorite fall experience?
